its 830ish and D isnt home yet. even though i told him id be home by 630. and even though he said he was sure he would be home by dark. which was about three or more hours ago. from working on the new building with W. because there are no lights there yet.

snow is falling fast. dogs are running through the front yard of the farm across the street. the street is solid white. except for the two lines on each side of the road where tire tracks are left. cars are scarce on the roads tonight. the occasional car creeps by. slipping along. every few minutes a snowmobile whizzes down the middle of the street.

the heat is whistling. coming up through the old radiators in this cozy old house we live in. and you can feel the floor shake a little as the town plows slowly rumble by.

in the streetlight you can see the big snowflakes rushing to the ground. we are supposed to have 12-18 inches by the morning. im thrilled about it. its only our second big snowfall. and there hasnt been snow on the ground since early december. i was just remarking this morning how this time last year we had several feet of snow built up. and every day we were getting a few more inches.

D's father called this morning. we have been offered a free five day trip to paris. he is paying for our airfare and hotel expenses. hi. am i nuts for even telling him we had to think about it? the answer needs to be had by tomorrow. and i think itll be a restless sleep tonight.

i wish the girl ive been emailing back and forth with about the domain i want to buy would write back. im excited for the name and am just now feeling anxious. for some reason. but really. if i dont get it. i have backups.

this afternoon i photographed a basketball game for the sports department at the newspaper. i was nervous to say the least. but when i asked K if he was going to back me up, just in case, he firmly said no. he had full confidence that i would walk away from the game with several shots he could use in tomorrows paper. in pure me form, i wasnt so sure. first of all, i have never shot sports before, except for the cross country ski meet i covered last week. which is completely different. and second of all, it was a womens college basketball game. not high school. college. come to find out, it was some type of championship tournament. this i didnt know until i got there. but K was sure id do just fine. he was right. he chose five photos that he found to be stellar. and i came home happy.

i just love nights like tonight. going to go make myself some hot chocolate and let the snow fall for as long as it would like. watch the new episode of sex & the city and then go to bed. the end of a blissfully gratifying day.

i need to go stare at my new big square magnet i think. 'everything is sweetened by risk'. until it sinks in.
