(more of the getting to know you thing, swiped from friends)

part four

profession or what you would most like to be "when you grow up": i am a freelance photographer right now. the past three years, i have been a photojournalist for the local newspaper, but i am going out on my own and trying to make my own way. i would like to ultimately stay in the photojournalism field, or vary things a bit and be a documentary or travel photographer. if i couldnt do this for some reason, i would be running an animal shelter.
cultural background of your mother/father - where are they originally from: my mother and father are both from the area where i grew up and now live. my mothers family is dutch, english, and scottish. my dads family is swedish and irish.
your lucky number: never thought about it.
do you wear a watch: no, i never have. i dont even like the idea of them, to be quite honest. plus, i cant wear things on my wrists.
have you ever stolen anything before: yes.
were you raised with a religion: i was. i went to private catholic school from kindergarten through eighth grade.
how you feel about gun control: i think the world would be a far more beautiful place if guns werent a part of it. idealistic, i know, but thats how i feel.
when you were a child which person from your family did you feel closest to: my mom.
friend you have known for the longest time: lisa, my next door neighbor from the time i was born until i was five, when we moved a couple of blocks away. she was also my babysitter (shes ten years older than me.)
are you still friends: yes. our families have been close since before i was born.
three things for which you are often complimented: my hair. my photographs. my brains.
what type of television programs do you like/dislike: i dont like dumb generic comedies, and most of the dating or extreme makeover reality shows. i think the one show i despise the most is fear factor. blech. i do like dramas (like law & order:svu), news shows (like dateline or 20/20) and unique informative shows, like ones on msnbc or the national geographic channel. i also really like some home decorating shows. because im a big crazy dork like that.
do you sketch while you are talking on the telephone: constantly. unless im driving. ha.
three words you use often when speaking: whatever. i dont know. hmm. (im so eloquent, yes.)
something you wish you could change about your life: i would bring my mother back.
a moment where you achieved absolute happiness: i honestly dont remember ever feeling that way.
how would you describe your first kiss: boring and awkward.
bath or shower: depends. for daily, its a shower. for relaxing, bath.
your greatest fear about aging: not achieving all the things i want to achieve in my life. not being content and at peace with my life. not being able to look back on my life without regrets.
something that has been on your mind for a long time: many thoughts surrounding my mothers illness and her death.
your most romantic experience: daniels proposal.
a scent that reminds you of someone with whom you have been intimate: speed stick! right guard sport. fresh scent.
if you could live anywhere in the world, you would live in: rural southern france. or boston. or a house right on the coast in maine.
two people who currently occupy your thoughts the most: my mother, and daniel.

and also? after some requests. a picture of myself, taken a month ago, and my new (short!) haircut. which is horribly flat and really rather gross looking in this photo. and i dont feel like thats actually what i look like. its wierd. i dont know. its just that whole wierd fake cockeyed smile thing ive got going on, i think. not to mention the photo is all pixellated but thats what you get when the boys mom gets it on cd from walmart. anyway. taken when we were in florida. may seventh. oh yes, and the boy is in the picture too. isnt he cute? hes so photogenic. it makes me crazy.

may seventh. orlando florida.
